not my typical pick, i was in the mood for Pinot last friday. so we stopped by the new Danville wine shop the Vine and were pleasantly surprised by what we found. cool wine bar and wine shop, and the guy there didn't steer me wrong.
the Roessler 2006 Red Label Pinot ($28) was a good find. Not overoaked, nice fruit, and fairly big flavor. i will be buying it again.

Les Chenes - 2003 Syrah
this is a wine from a small winery in Livermore Valley in the SF bay area, so probably not available outside of this region. this winery makes wine in various French styles, and is worth a visit to check it out, since their wine is quite different than any of the other wineries in Livermore i've visited.
this 2003 Syrah tasted great at the winery, but i was really disappointed when i opened it 2 weeks later at home. after 1 glass, i capped it and thru it in the fridge. next day it was fantastic. i've got another bottle so i'll repost or update this after i've opened it.
